A Greek EVSer in the city of 7 secrets.
I’m Marina, I’m a Greek from Thessaloniki. This year I decided to do my EVS project in one of my favorite countries on earth, Italy. It’s my second time living in Italy, the first time was during my Erasmus studies in Torino, so as you can understand I adore this country. But to the point, now I’m living in Bologna, the city of 7 secrets/ miracles and the urban center of Italy. Maybe it’s true what it is said that “tutte le vie portano a Roma” but “tutte le strade passano da Bologna”.
When I got accepted for the EVS project in Bologna, I didn’t know what to think. I was excited and the same time I had a strange feeling in my stomach. It was exactly what I was looking for, a program on culture and creativity in Italy.
First day, when I arrived home and I had the same feeling as my first day of Erasmus studies. New life, new begging, new city but five years older. From that day, I was trying to discover my new house, city, people, habits and traditions.
The first week, me and my tutor visited the centro sociale e creativo Montanari, where I’m working. There, we’ve been welcomed by Laila and Giorgio, two very nice people between 65-70 years old. They were really warm with us and they guided me about the activities of the centro and my responsibilities there. So, from that day it was started officially my EVS experience. Since now, i learned many things about Italian culture, cultura Bolognese and generally history and traditions of Bologna.
I started to organize my materials for English and computer courses that I have to offer to old people and children. At the end of the month, it was organized the Finger food festival. 4 days full of food and music. At our stand we were preparing piandine and crescentine. (Traditional Italian food in which you can put prosciutto, cheese or Nutella/ we can eat them with nothing too.)
I must admit that during the festival I learned, first of all, more things about Italian culture, second, how to use the coffee machine and the secret of a good cafè and third, collaborating with old people can teach you new things and practical way of thinking.
On the other hand about Bologna, it’s a small city full of life, multicultural, diversity and young people. There are many events and festivals that run every day in all over the city. Your weekends are every time full of history, art and parties, or stories, street music and alternative places.
I like that I will be for one year part of this community.

Bologna: grassa, rossa, adeguata
L’adeguata:
